Our Humble Beginnings
The Cothran's Story began in 2011 with a simple yet powerful passion for the pet industry.
Co-owner Heather embarked on this journey by pursuing her dream of becoming a certified professional groomer through an esteemed grooming academy. Her commitment to excellence set the foundation for what would become a thriving business.
In 2013, our grooming services began in a modest home-based setup in Sherrills Ford, NC. As demand grew, so did our ambition, leading to a larger facility in Iron Station.
Building a Vision
By 2016, we took a bold step and opened our first storefront, Southern Belle Pet Grooming, in Lincolnton, NC.
This milestone marked a turning point in our journey, allowing us to serve a growing community of pet lovers with professional grooming services and a personal touch.
Our passion for providing the best care for pets inspired us to expand further.
In 2018, we moved into a larger location, adding a selection of high-quality pet retail products to complement our grooming services. Despite facing challenges during the pandemic, the unwavering support of our loyal customers and the dedication of our team allowed us to thrive during unprecedented times.
A New Chapter:
Southern Divine Kennels
In December 2021, we rebranded and relocated to a new, comprehensive space at 119 Dave Warlick Drive in Lincolnton, NC. This rebranding marked the birth of Southern Divine Kennels, a name reflecting our commitment to elegance, care, and the highest standards in pet grooming.
During this period, we also operated a breeding business specializing in Standard Poodles, Golden Retrievers, and Goldendoodles. However, as our grooming business grew, we recognized our true passion lay in providing exceptional grooming services.
In late 2022, we made the decision to fully dedicate ourselves to grooming, transitioning to Southern Divine Kennels Pet Grooming, LLC, and welcoming two silent partners to support our vision for growth.
Expanding Our Reach
In September 2024, we proudly announced our expansion into Brunswick County, NC, with the opening of our second location in the Oak Island area.
This new venture not only offers mobile grooming services but also includes tailored dog walking and pet visit services designed to meet the unique needs of every pet and their owner. We are opening a store front in 2025
As we grow, our mission remains steadfast: to bring upscale, compassionate pet grooming services to communities across the state while maintaining the personal care and attention to detail that have defined us since the beginning.
New Southport Salon
In March 2025,
we proudly opened our Southport grooming salon, located at 4809 Southport-Supply Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461.
Building on our successful expansion into Brunswick County in September 2024 — when we introduced mobile grooming, dog walking, and personalized pet visit services in the Oak Island area — this new storefront marks another exciting chapter in our journey.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains steadfast: to deliver upscale, compassionate grooming and pet care services across North Carolina, while maintaining the personalized care and attention to detail that have defined Southern Divine Kennels Pet Grooming from the very beginning.
